Who We Are
The Chicago Food Security Collaborative brings together leaders from diverse communities to tackle food insecurity at its roots. By working collectively, we aim to address the interconnected issues that perpetuate hunger, poverty, and systemic inequities in our city.
Why We Exist
Food insecurity isn't just about hunger—it's about access to opportunity. Families in marginalized communities face barriers that extend far beyond the dinner table. From finding stable jobs and navigating government programs to accessing education and mental health resources, these challenges are deeply interconnected. Solving food insecurity means addressing these systemic issues head-on.
We are a coalition of community leaders and changemakers from marginalized neighborhoods across Chicago, united in the fight against food insecurity. We believe that food insecurity is more than a lack of access to affordable, healthy food—it's a symptom of systemic challenges that require comprehensive solutions.
We envision a Chicago where every family has access to the resources they need to thrive: nutritious food, meaningful employment, quality education, mental health support, and the tools to navigate local and federal systems. Together, we’re building a future where food security is a foundation, not a privilege.
We pair K-12 classrooms up with the right tools and educational materials necessary for successful outcomes.
